Politics for All

About Us

We are a small disabled people’s organisation that wants to make politics and activism more inclusive for disabled people.

Mission statement

We are on a mission to make politics and activism inclusive for all

From registering to vote to engaging in activism to standing as an MP, many disabled people face extra barriers to participating in politics and having their voices heard. Politics for All is a grassroots ‘hub’ for all things accessibility and inclusivity within the political system and activism sector. We create campaigns, support like-minded organisations and campaigns and offer an inclusive and supportive space for aspiring disabled changemakers and politicians.

Values

What we are about

Our values help us to deliver change for communities so they are confidently able to vote and feel empowered to access opportunities and careers within politics and activism.

There are so many organisations out there that work on some of our ‘sub-campaigns’ in which case the goal is to partner with them and effectively work for them as they are the experts. On other areas it’s going to be more about leading a campaign and getting as many organisations involved to get it big and successful.

As an organisation working to drive accessibility and inclusivity, equity is at the heart of what we do. We don’t want ‘equality’. We want equity.

We are in this together, and unite in our struggles and connected lived experiences to drive change and support oneanother.

As an organisation passionate about increasing representation in senior levels of politics and activism, we believe it goes without saying that we represent people from all backgrounds, walks of life, identities and lived experiences.

The majority of individuals we work with will identify as a part of two or more marginalised and/or minority communities. Therefore, it is vital we take an intersectional approach, particularly on our work in equity, diversity and inclusion.

For us, accessibility and inclusion is the foundation of the work we do and strive to do. Without it, there is no community to work with and learn from. Today, accessibility encompasses a rich range of practices – all we seek to do. Accessibility is the act of actually making sure someone can be a part of something but inclusion goes further to make sure people actually want to and do take part – like someone who doesn’t face any barriers to participating might feel.

What we do

We are campaigning for change

Disabled people make up 25% of the UK population but when it comes to engaging in politics or activism, we’re not often represented. Many of us want to be in the room but we face extra barriers.

We have recently launched a campaign on disability inclusion in local politics.
